Condo tower project may compromise historic sightlines to Queen's Park

Incident Report Description

One of the most admired vistas in Toronto is the view to Queen’s Park, the Ontario Provincial Legislature, particularly from University Ave. A proposal by Menkes Developments Ltd. involves the demolition of the Four Seasons Hotel to the North, replacing it with two tall residential towers which would be visable through the gap between the Legislature’s centre and eastern blocks.

Councillors and residents are commenting on the absence of firm planning guidelines (as exist in Ottawa and Washington) to ensure clear sightlines to important government buildings. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/812157--liberals-urged-to-protect-legislature-skyline-from-condo-development
