How To Use
This website has been set up to help us learn what buildings, places and environments are under threat, at risk of demolition, change beyond recogition or neglect. It is a sort of "tip line" letting us and the world know that "this place matters".
HEADLINE: in the title don't just list the place, but write it like a headline, such as "Brantford Main Street Faces Demolition."
CONTENT: We are trying to make this a really useful tool, so let's use it to let each other know about new places, rather than existing well-known sites.
BACKGROUND: We are tired of heritage as crisis management. Wouldn't it be great if things got flagged before the bulldozers roll up the street. This site is our early warning system; our hope is that we will learn what is going on all over the Province. The program is based on Ushahidi, developed in Kenya in 2008 to track reports of ethnic violence, and used since all over the world to track everything from snow storms in Washington to the earthquake in Haiti.
WHAT'S COMING: This is really early beta; watch for redone graphic design, and the ability to enter information from Blackberry, iPhone, SMS and email.
